Your adventure begins with a departure from Fes. We will journey south into the spectacular Middle Atlas Mountains. Our path takes us through ancient cedar forests, home to wild Barbary macaques. We will then stop in Midelt, a town known for its apples and fossil discoveries.
After lunch, the landscape dramatically changes. We descend into the breathtaking Ziz Valley, a vast and beautiful oasis of palm trees. We arrive in Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara as the sun begins to set. You’ll settle into your hotel with the immense Erg Chebbi dunes as your backdrop.
An early start rewards you with an unforgettable Saharan sunrise. After breakfast, our journey continues northwest towards the Todra Gorge. You can take a walk through this magnificent canyon. You’ll be dwarfed by its towering 300-meter-high limestone cliffs.
From there, we proceed to the Dades Valley. This region is famous for its dramatic roads and unique “monkey fingers” rock formations. Your day concludes at a charming guesthouse nestled within this stunning valley.
Following breakfast, you will begin the scenic drive back to Fes. Depending on the day, there may be an opportunity to visit the vibrant traditional market in Rissani, offering a glimpse into authentic local life. The route retraces our path through the beautiful Ziz Valley and includes a stop for lunch in Midelt. As you cross the Atlas Mountains one last time, you’ll arrive back in Fes by evening, concluding your incredible desert expedition.
