After breakfast, your adventure begins with a departure from Fes, heading south towards the Sahara. Our first stop is Ifrane, a surprising alpine-style town known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.” We’ll then journey into the ancient cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you can observe the region’s native Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.
After lunch, the landscape transforms as we approach the Ziz Valley, a stunning oasis of palm groves stretching for miles. In the late afternoon, we arrive at the edge of the Sahara in Merzouga. Here, you will meet your camel caravan for an unforgettable trek into the vast Erg Chebbi dunes. We will pause atop a high dune to witness a breathtaking sunset before arriving at your luxury desert camp. The evening comes alive with traditional Berber drum music and stories around a campfire, all beneath a spectacular canopy of stars.
An early rise is rewarded with the serene beauty of a Saharan sunrise over the dunes. Following breakfast at the camp, you’ll return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4 vehicle. Our journey continues towards the Dades Valley, with several fascinating stops along the way. In Rissani, the ancient capital of the Tafilalet region, we’ll have the chance to explore its vibrant traditional market (if it’s a Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday).
Next, we proceed to the Todra Gorge, a majestic canyon with towering 300-meter-high rock walls. You’ll have time for a leisurely walk along the river, appreciating the scale of this natural wonder. Our day ends in the Dades Valley, where we’ll take a scenic drive to see the famous “monkey fingers” rock formations before settling into your charming hotel for the night.
On our final day, we travel the legendary “Road of 1000 Kasbahs,” passing through the Valley of Roses en route to Ouarzazate. Known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” Ouarzazate is home to Atlas Studios, where you can see film sets from famous productions. The true highlight, however, is the nearby Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou. This incredible UNESCO World Heritage site is a fortified village that has been immortalized in films like Gladiator and the series Game of Thrones.
After exploring the kasbah and enjoying lunch, we begin the spectacular final leg of our journey. We’ll ascend the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the dramatic Tizi n’Tichka Pass at an altitude of 2,260 meters. The drive offers breathtaking panoramic views of the rugged landscape and remote Berber villages. As we descend from the mountains, we arrive in the vibrant city of Marrakech, where your unforgettable 3-day tour concludes.
